Origin Story

Every shirt is made in Mumbai by women artisans using pre-loved saris, supporting fair income and economic empowerment. I Was a Sari operates as a circular fashion label under 2nd Innings Handicrafts Pvt Ltd, with a zero-waste philosophy at its core. All production is small-batch and entirely hand-finished.

Artisan

Handcrafted by women artisans in Mumbai. To date, over 900 artisans have been empowered through our upcycling model, giving over 2.2 million square metres of fabric a second life.

Sustainability Impact

Each shirt is made from a single pre-loved sari, supporting zero textile waste. Any leftover sari remnants are donated to an Indian NGO that transforms them into menstrual products for women in Mumbai slums and surrounding villages.

I will be shipped to you within 24–48 hours of you placing the order. I will be delivered by DHL or FedEx, which typically takes 4–5 business days.

If you choose Eco Shipping, I will be shipped via Aramex and delivered in approximately 10–12 business days, using a slower, lower-impact shipping method.
