The embroidered bomber jackets by I was a Sari are statement pieces designed to stand out.
Handcrafted from upcycled saris and finished with detailed embroidery, each jacket combines structure, colour, and character in a truly one-of-a-kind design.
These bombers are made by women artisans in Mumbai, transforming pre-loved textiles into iconic jackets that balance bold expression with everyday wearability.
Every embroidered bomber jacket by I was a Sari is handmade by skilled women artisans in Mumbai using pre-loved sari fabrics.
By working with existing textiles and traditional techniques, the brand supports ethical production while preserving craft and reducing textile waste.
Each bomber is defined by its embroidery.
Decorative stitching, symbolic motifs, and contrast details are applied by hand, making every jacket visually distinctive and rich in personality.
No two embroidered bombers are ever the same.
Variations in sari prints, colour combinations, and embroidery placement ensure that each piece is truly unique — designed to be worn as a personal statement.
Designed to be easy to style, these bomber jackets pair effortlessly with dresses, denim, skirts, or tailored pants.
Cropped silhouettes and structured shapes make them ideal for layering across seasons, from daytime wear to evening looks.
Each embroidered bomber jacket begins with a sari that already exists.
Through upcycling and craftsmanship, I was a Sari creates durable, expressive jackets that support a circular approach to fashion, without compromising quality or design.

Between two sizes? Go by your chest measurement first for tops, or hips for bottoms, see the notes below.
Use a soft tape, wear light clothing, and keep the tape level all the way around.
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, level across the back. Keep it snug, not tight, and read the measurement where the tape meets.
Find your natural waistline, usually the narrowest point of your torso. Don't hold your stomach in, keep the tape level and comfortably snug.
Stand with feet together and wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips and seat, straight and level front to back.
